Uma Bharti lashes UP government on withdrawl of cases against terrorists

BJP’s firebrand leader Uma Bharti lashed out at Uttar Pradesh government for its decision to challenge Barabanki court's verdict, which rejected its plea to withdraw case against two alleged HuJI operatives.

"UP government has decided to challenge the lower court's order and this is not right.... it would only cause fear among the people and increase chances of more terror strikes," Bharti said.

"Till now Pakistan was the only place in Asia which was regarded as safe for terrorists but now UP would also be a state for which terrorists would think as a safe place for themselves," Bharti said.

"The BJP will strongly object every such move of the state government", she said.

On Friday, a Barabanki court turned down the state government’s plea on withdrawing cases against Tariq Kasmi and Khalid Mujahid, accused in 2007 Gorakhpur serial blast case. On same day, state minister Azam Khan had said, "This is not the last court. An appeal would be filed in the higher court against the Barabanki court decision."
