Kiran Bedi joins BJP just ahead of Delhi Polls

The stage is all set to welcome former IPS officer Kiran Bedi in the BJP. According to various TV reports, even former Aam Aadmi Party leader Shazia Ilmi could also join the party. The reports said that talks have also been on with actor turned politician Jaya Prada and a decision on her joining the BJP is yet to be taken.

 There has been speculation that the party could consider fielding Bedi against Aam Aadmi Party president Arvind Kejriwal in his New Delhi constituency for the Assembly Elections next month.

Kiran Bedi, who has not confirmed or denied that she will take a plunge into politics, tweeted this morning, 'Delhi and Delhites do not deserve this kind of prolonged negativity. The Capital needs integrity wisdom, experience, vision and implementation.'

She was a prominent member of Team Anna, a core group of activists who worked closely with Gandhian activist Anna Hazare when he launched his campaign to demand a Bill to appoint a Lokpal or national ombudsman against graft.

Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the BJP to a massive victory in the national elections last year, Bedi had signalled her readiness to join the BJP. 'Narendra Modi's call to the nation inspired me. My earlier aversion to politics has declined considerably.'

Welcoming Kiran Bedi in the partyfold, BJP's national President Amit Shah said,  'Kiran Bedi ji has joined BJP, and I am sure Delhi BJP party will be strengthened due to her presence: Amit Shah ji has joined BJP, and I am sure Delhi BJP party will be strengthened due to her presence.'

Even Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, 'BJP has a tradition of inducting experienced and honest people into the party.' Amit Shah also said that Kiran Bedi will also contest the Delhi Assembly polls adding that BJP’s Parliamentary board will decide who will be the Chief Minister of Delhi.'

Meanwhile, thanking the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kiran Bedi said,'Very grateful to PM for reposing his faith in me,I’m here today because of his inspirational leadership.' She further said, 'His inspirational leadership hs led to revival of hope,that's why person like me who dedicated life to social service is here today.'

'I have 40 years of administrative experience, now I am here to present my experience to Delhi, the top cop said.' She also said that I have an administrative experience of 40 years,I have come here to dedicate all my experience to Delhi and nation.

Kiran Bedi also said,'Mujhe kaam karna ata hai aur kaam karwana bhi ata hai, hum mil kar kaam karenge aur mil kar karwaenge bhi.'

While concluding her address to the Press, Bedi said,'BJP has given me an opportunity to return back everything I got, to the nation, I'm in mission mode now.'

The top cop also added,'I am in mission-mode now. With our team work we will work towards a steady, stable and corruption free Government.'
