PM Modi inaugurates Pravasi Bhartiya Divas

To mark the contribution of the overseas Indian community to the development of the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD) today in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

PM Modi is expected to hold one-to-one interactions with various dignitaries, including Chief Ministers of different States.

PM Modi viewed the exhibition which has stalls and display pavilions of various States, besides of schemes launched by the Prime Minister recently like the Skills India, Swachh Bharat, Ganga Rejuvenation, Smart Cities, and Digital India.

 Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj inaugurated the Youth PBD. It was attended by hundreds of youth from across the world.

Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had started the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas in 2003.

The annual gathering of Indian diaspora aimed at enhancing networking and reinforcing commercial linkages is being held from January 7 to 9.
