AAP launches tirade against Nadda appointment to Cabinet.

Launching a tirade against induction of the BJP leader JP Nadda into the Union Cabinet on Sunday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came down heavily on the Centre questioning if Nadda was being rewarded for harassing former AIIMS CVO and whistleblower Sanjeev Chaturvedi.

"The induction of BJP leader JP Nadda into the Union Cabinet is unfortunate and shows that the Narendra Modi government is rewarding those who have harassed honest officers and tried to shield the corrupt," the party said.

"It is shocking that despite written evidence being available with the Prime Minister's Office about the role of Nadda in getting whistleblower officer Sanjeev Chaturvedi removed as Chief Vigilance Officer of AIIMS, he has been made a Cabinet minister."

Citing a series of letters -- Nadda's correspondence with health minister Mr Harsh Vardhan -- the party said, "It clearly proves that he tried to get Chaturvedi removed at least thrice since an officer close to him (Nadda) was under scanner for alleged corrupt deals running into hundreds of crores.

Chaturvedi was removed from his post on August 20 with the Health Ministry giving no reason behind his sacking.

They alleged that Nadda's elevation is in direct contrast to the BJP's pre-election promise of providing a corruption-free government. They said it would be a wrong signal for the country's bureaucracy.

The party said it is shocked over the BJP's perpetual silence in the entire issue. "Not once has this party cleared the air on the reasons behind Nadda's unjustified interference in the functioning of AIIMS, a direct assault on it autonomy," the party said.

The election dates in Delhi are likely to be announced soon.
