AP CM Chandrababu Naidu to call on Narendra Modi today

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday to discuss state-related issues.

Naidu, whose party TDP is part of the ruling NDA, is expected to take up the issue of granting Special Category State status to Andhra Pradesh and pitch his demand for a special grant of over Rs 15,000 crore in the Union Budget.

The special grant is being sought to bridge the non-plan deficit that is expected to arise because of disruption of revenue accruals due to the state’s bifurcation, according to sources in the Chief Minister’s Office.

In addition, a special grant of over Rs 8,600 crore would also be sought as additional Central assistance to finance critical development projects currently under execution and also meet important development needs that have arisen as a result of the bifurcation, they added.
