New Delhi, March 4th. BJP Delhi Pradesh President Dr. Harsh Vardhan has strongly condemned large scale violence by SP Legislator Hazi Irfan Solanki and SSP Yashashavi Yadav, 300 policemen and about 100 goondas against doctors, junior doctors, nurses and paramedical staff on 20th February in the premises of prestigious GSVM Medical College, Kanpur. He has demanded the DG of UP and Central Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde that the SP Legislator who is a history sheeter be arrested under MCOCA and appropriate action be taken against him. Today, a delegation of the doctors of Kanpur Medical College met Dr. Harsh Vardhan and described in detailed about the atrocities by the SP Legislator and Kanpur Police against them. They have demanded that criminal cases be filed against SP Legislator Irfan Solanki, his goondas and SSP Yasashavi Yadav and sent to jail. The doctors, nurses, patients and their attendants who have been assaulted should be compensated and provided complete medical treatment. Concrete steps should be taken to prevent any such incidents in future. It may be mentioned that on the 28th February at 6pm, an armed convoy of the Legislator was passing in front of the Kanpur Medical College. Two junior doctors were coming behind them after getting their motorcycle filled with petrol. Suddenly, the Legislator opened back door of the car. Due to this the bike of the doctors clashed with the door of the car and they fell down on the road. The Legislator stopped his convoy and brutally assaulted the doctors and tried to kidnap them. But the mob which collected at the place of incident saved them. After that Irfan Solanki and the SSP Kanpur Yasashavi Yadav with 300 policemen and about 100 goondas entered the premises of Medical College without the permission of the principal. They fired upon any person who came in front of them. Doctors, junior doctors, nurses, paramedical staff were assaulted for about 4 hours. One of the doctors was thrown away from the third floor. Head of the department of Community, Medicine was taken away by the police and kept in illegal detention for 20 hours and was also beaten up. Due to the large scale violence by the SP Legislator and the Police, all the doctors of nine medical colleges of UP are on indefinite strike from the 28th February. Today, the nurses also took out rally demanding the arrest of Legislator and the SSP. The entire health services of UP have collapsed due to the strike of 15 thousand doctors of all the medical colleges. But the Chief Minister is not worried about it. IMA has warned that if the SP Legislator is not arrested and sent to jail within 48 hours then the IMA will be compelled to take direct action. IMA has also demanded that the Kanpur SSP should also be suspended and transferred. The cases filed against students and teachers should be withdrawn. The entire incident should be enquired by a High Court judge within a fixed time frame and strict legal action be taken according to the enquiry report.
